Bill Does Not Advance

 Arizona’s Thomas M Dow Act (HB2569), a bill that would legalize Death with Dignity in AZ, is referred to the House Rules and Health and Human Services Committee.

HB2569 does not meet the deadline to cross over to the State Senate. The bill does not advance.

Bills Miss Deadline and Do Not Advance

Current status: HB2243/SB1404 was introduced by the Arizona legislature. SB1404 was referred to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, but missed the deadline to advance. Both bills die in committee.

Bills Do Not Advance

The Arizona legislature introduces SB1530/HB2878. SB1530 is referred to the Senate Health and Human Services Committee and the Rules Committee and read for a second time. Both bills die before being referred to committee. The bills do not advance.

In February, SB1646/HB2583 is introduced. The bills do not receive a hearing before the session deadline.

On February 9, 2022 the Arizona State Legislature introduced HB2762, a medical aid-in-dying bill. After the first reading in the House, the bill does not move forward.

Four Death with Dignity bills introduced this session (HB2102, HB2611 SB1222, and SB1414). None of the bills advance.

Bills Move Out of Committee But Do Not Advance

In January, a pair of assisted-dying bills, SB1512 and HB2336, were introduced. Neither bill moves out of committee. Instead, Arizona passes a law prohibiting discrimination against medical providers who opt out of assisted-dying legislation.
