Last week, lawmakers introduced an amendment to the state’s Death with Dignity law—HB1876—and it’s already set for a public hearing this Friday, February 14, in the House Committee on Early Learning & Human Services.

This has the potential to be a huge milestone for Death with Dignity advocates! HB1876 would eliminate the mandatory seven-day waiting period for qualified patients who are expected to die or lose capacity before the waiting period is up—or who are experiencing unbearable, irremediable pain. No one should have to suffer while waiting for the compassionate care they’ve chosen, and this amendment aims to support that!

Take two minutes and write to the Washington House Early Learning & Human Services committee members and request they help terminally ill patients by voting HB1786 out of committee.
