This session, Kentucky lawmakers introduced Rena’s HB408, a bill that would legalize Death with Dignity in the state. Each year, hundreds, sometimes thousands, of bills are introduced in the state legislature, and only a small percentage receive a committee hearing or vote. In this case, the session ended, and HB408 did not advance.

It also means HB646 has failed—a bill that would have inserted government interference into deeply personal end-of-life medical decisions and created a chilling effect among doctors and pharmacists, leaving many hesitant to prescribe adequate pain relief for fear of prosecution.
