Last week, Governor Kathy Hochul officially signed the Medical Aid in Dying Act into law. With this historic action, New York became the 14th jurisdiction to authorize medical aid in dying, expanding end-of-life options for terminally ill New Yorkers.

It’s important that we recognize and celebrate public officials who listen to patients, honor the courage it takes to share these deeply personal stories, and respect the tireless advocacy that made this victory possible.
